    • Ellen Ross says:

Thanks, Ellen. You have to be- my love longest-standing friendship. I met you when I was 5. (And then a few days or weeks later, I met Judy.) It means the world to me that we are still in touch. Even if you guys can still beat my brains out at jacks. See you soon. 💋❤️

  3. Mitchell Klein says:

    And I am all alone.
There is no one here beside me.
And my problems have all gone.
There is no one to deride me.

But you got to have friends.
    The feeling’s oh so strong.
    You got to have friends
To make that day last long.

I had some friends but they’re gone,
Somethin’ came and took them away.
And from the dusk ’til the dawn
    Here is where I’ll stay.

Standing at the end of the road, boys,
Waiting for my new friends to come.
I don’t care if I’m hungry or poor,
I’m gonna get me some of them.

Cause you got to have friends.
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, friends.
That’s right you, oh you, yeah you,
I said you gotta have some friends,
I’m talkin’ about friends, that’s right, friends.
    Friends, friends, friends.

A great Bette Midler triumph. And I probably should have done a clip of the Beatles “I’ll Get By etc.” Thanks for being a great friend, Mitch. Our group lunches make my life a happier place to be.

  4. Bernard Kerman says:

  5. John Yager says:

  6. Kennedy says:

Best thing about friends as family is you get to pick ’em

  7. David G says:

Twice I have had an abscess which caused sepsis. Interventional radiologists were great in draining them… The infection can really knock you out. Glad you are feeling so well.

    • Ellen Ross says:

Oh, how awful, David. I am TERRIFIED of getting another one. Let’s hope we never experience this again. Stay well. And thanks.

  8. Steve Wolff says:

Your diagnosis of septic shock reminds me of an experience I had about 40 years ago.

Okay, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the same thing as what you had but I once had “septic TANK shock.” I lived in Kansas in a house that had a septic tank sewage system that backed up. I was told it was not a life threatening condition but I have to admit I thought I was going to die, or at least pass out, from the foul odor emanating from the tank. I couldn’t eat anything while the system remained in disrepair. I must have lost at least one pound or so while I spent countless hours on the phone trying to find a septic tank doctor. Eventually someone finally flushed the system and things got back to normal.

So it’s like we’re simpatico. I know exactly how you feel!!

On a serious note, I’m glad you’re feeling well again. As Hannibal Lecter said to Clarice Starling: “This world’s a better place with you in it.”

    • Ellen Ross says:

Good story, Steve. I’ve never had medical problems before like that. And if it ever happens again, I’ll call a plumber. And thanks for the great quote. Neat to be compared to the intrepid Officer Starling.

  9. Steve Wolff says:

I was told I misquoted Mr. Lecter. What he actually said was, “I have no plans to call on you, Clarice, the world being more interesting with you in it.”

So, Ellen, I’m saying the world is both better and more interesting with you in it!!!

    • Ellen Ross says:

Nice! I like a guy who insists on getting the movie quote right. Thanks for caring about this, Steve. 😊
